Sidings Replacement for Homes in Richmond and Surrounding Cities

Serving Richmond, Chesterfield, Midlothian, Hopewell, Ashland, Glen Allen, Moseley, Fort Lee, and Surrounding Cities

Sidings are protective barriers on walls outside the building. They prevent water infiltration and safeguard the walls from sun damage and bad weather. Sidings are the first line of defense alongside the roof and can become indispensable in construction. Sidings also provide more insulation and improve the house's aesthetics. With a wide range of designs available on the market, owners can use sidings to get beautiful facades and improve their home's curb appeal.

Siding is mandatory for any internally framed walls with wood or steel beams since these don't have enough water and weather protection on their own. Masonry walls, composed of brick or cement blocks held with mortar, don't require sidings for performance, but they can have sidings applied for aesthetics and visual improvement.

While siding is durable when appropriately installed, it's not impervious to damage and deterioration. Over time, the material can thin and wear out, allowing water to leak through and causing it to lose much of its protective qualities. When that happens, the best solution is to replace the entire siding with new material. Patchwork repairs are possible only on relatively new siding, as any siding damage is likely to occur on other sections given time.

Siding Material Options

Vinyl Siding Replacement

Vinyl siding is manufactured from PVC and uses its durability to its limits. It imitates wood and metal well when painted or stained and is commonly used as a less expensive alternative. Vinyl siding needs to be coated in special sprays to reflect UV rays since it deteriorates PVC faster.

Fiber Cement Siding

Fiber cement siding is one of the heaviest materials in use and requires more people to transport and install than other types. However, it's by far the most durable siding currently in use and requires minimal maintenance once applied. Cement is also resistant to rot and termites, making it an excellent alternative to wood-based products.

Aluminum

Aluminum is one of the lightest metals that offers plenty of protection against the weather. It's also resistant to corrosion, making it excellent for coastal applications. Aluminum sidings can be recycled, making them one of the most affordable and cost-effective materials in use.

Fiberglass

Fiberglass is a relatively new siding material but has quickly become a staple when heat protection is critical. It can be molded to imitate other materials well. Also, while it appears similar to vinyl, the radically different manufacturing process gives fiberglass an edge when it comes to durability and heat resistance.

Stucco

Stucco is one of the best siding materials and has been a staple for centuries. It's a cement-based product that coats the outside walls for an impact- and heat-resistant finish. The cement repels pests and provides sounder insulation. It also has plenty of customization options since it doesn't come in predetermined plates and patterns but is shaped and molded into place.

Wood

Wood is one of the oldest siding materials but has fallen out of favor for modern, more durable siding types. While wood is relatively durable, it's susceptible to rot and deterioration and doesn't fare well in moist settings. It's best used to achieve traditional aesthetics and requires more maintenance over its lifespan.
